That was! hitting 'no mod', as you can see it is highlighted! Something is seriously screwed up here...

If anyone want's to, I have Google Talk (just append @gmail.com to my name). It will let you drag/drop an entire folder into the chat window, for immediate download to the recipient. It's the most efficient way I've found to move big things around. Add me as a friend, I have it active right now, if you like. And, it is an IM chat, so It's much easier than the hit/miss in this forum posting business.

Anyway, I'm giving this a rest for today. If anyone sends something to Google Talk, I may or may not hear the notification, but I'll respond when I find it. Thanks for the help so far...hopefully It'll iron out soon. I want to get back to blasting Shivans!

What happened here is simply that there was still a mod.ini file in your main directory. Delete that.

Try pulling that mod.ini and if that doesn't work I'll arrange for somebody to pass you a folder.

I can't use mine because I'd have to clean out all the project-confidential stuff and that'd be annoying and I'm lazy.

Most likely the mod.ini in your \freespace2\ folder is pointing to an image that either doesn't exist or is of the wrong size. That mod.ini is a reminder for people who hit No MOD and are then angry because all the shiny graphics vanish. You don't really need it.
Actually, since you had STR .vp files in \freespace2\ , it is possible that you have the STR mod.ini in \freespace2\ . Opening it would probably reveal if this is true. Open it and depending on what it is, either remove it or move it to \freespace2\STR\ .

As an easier method to check if anything works without the MediaVPs, move your \mediavps\ folder completely away from your \freespace2\ directory.

Also as a side note, something that I noticed earlier from a log: there shouldn't be a need to place the cutscene pack vps to \data\ folders: the FS1 cutscene pack should work when in \freespace2\fsport\ and the FS2 cutscene pack should work when in \freespace2\ .

Thanks guys. I found that mod.ini that was the culprit there. The graphics problems still exist, however. I was thinking of searching for an FS2.iso file somewhere, and installing it from that to a new location (to keep it separate from this one). I can't come up with any ideas to as what is at fault for this error, other than the RC3 build itself, as that's the only thing different from when it was running fine last week on 3.6.9... I'll give it a rest for now (focused on Xbox and classes for time being). I'll see about working on it this weekend.
