I can confirm that that Orestes dock has nothing to do with Vanilla FS2 but was added for the HTL model so the Aeolus would work with a ship named the Orestes.

I'm sure there have been other ships that used the name Orestes. It's a mythological reference, after all.

I don't really think it has anything to do with AoA, that'd be silly.

I suspect there was a ship named the Orestes that could not dock at any of the standard positions on the Aeolus because of the mesh shape, so this point was added at a position where it could dock without clashing.
