I did a search and didn't find any threads on it. :doubt: Which I doubt but...

I watched the pilot last night on Hulu and it was.... interesting.  I found the idea pretty cool but stuff that really doesn't click with me is that the Earth is in danger so they send a ship to Eridani(SP?) and the most efficient way of going about the mission is to make the experience a reality TV show?  Really RDM?

I still wonder what is going on with the virtual module.  It looks up in the air at the moment it could really be hit or miss.

A quick intarwebz search reveals that although show was filmed as a pilot, it was never picked up for ongoing broadcast, so it was aired as a movie of the week.  Further research reveals that the wife of one of the cast members is doing a petition to get it picked up as an ongoing show.

Having read the synopsis on Wikipedia, I am kinda disturbed that such a low grade concept was even floated as an idea.  I can nitpick, but suffice to say the crew is too small on a conceptual level, particularly on an interstellar voyage, as no replacements for injured or deceased crew members would be available so replacement personel would have to travel with the ship.  Secondly, the whole "OH NOES THE DOCTOR HAS PARKINSON'S!" subplot is so hacknyed as to be completely unbeliveable.  Lastly, given the problems I read about in the wiki article, 6 months is not a lot of time to have invested to completely forgo turning around and getting a crew that isn't affected by neuroses that seem to plague this crew after only 6 months locked away in a tin can.

They'd passed the go-or-no-go point at Neptune (which I assume they were planning on using to gravity brake and swing around back to earth). They probably don't have the fuel to slow down, speed back up again and then slow down again at Earth.
