This is probably a stupid question, but I just want to know and I have read conflicting pieces of information. Will the Battlestars Galactica and Pegasus be in game? From your Moddb.com page, you say that they will not be included. However, I have come across several threads in this forum that seem to hint/assume that they will be in the mod. SO I ask the developers themselves...will the two canon battlestars be in the game upon release?

As I understand it (I'm not on the team, mind) they will not be part of the campaign released with the mod, which focuses on the Battlestar Theseus, but Galactica and Mercury-class ships will be released in R1 and available in FRED.

Is that correct?

Diaspora is going to be released in episodic stages as more assets are developed.  R1 "Shattered Armistice"will not feature the Galactica or Pegasus, they will become available in later releases.  The general idea is to get you in the cockpit playing as early as possible, rather then keeping all the cookies in the jar for a massive release far down the pike.

Exactly. Right now we're looking of adding at least a battlestar per release. Meaning things will get more and more interesting as we go along, since freders will have more and more nice stuff to work with. We wouldn't make the enormous effort of building the galactica and pegasus and then not use them in our own campaign. They will get built and used, just not in r1. So no, they will not be included in our first release, but they will be eventually.

It does worry me when I hear people get it so wrong. Evidently we're not doing our PR well enough. I thought we'd already stamped out the rumour that we weren't interested in the official storyline or that we were in any way "less canon" than BtRL.

Galactica and Pegasus will be in the game only when we have enough of the fleet to make missions that do them justice. Those two are the big bruisers of the show and we don't want to just throw them in as if we don't care about them. They'll appear when you can fly the missions you saw in the show.

Sorry, that statement I just quoted seemed to imply that they were perhaps finished, and that you guys were simply waiting to utilize them when you felt it was appropriate. Thanks for the help, and again, as a huge BSG fan, I'm looking forward to chillin in the cockpit of my Vipers and doing my best Starbuck impression (via piloting, I won't be dressing up as a woman)

That post was clear enough, and there were also others from team members, including myself, which clearly stated that 1) we don't have them ready, and 2) they won't be in r1.
Wishful thinking and combining parts of posts so they might mean what you want them to if you look at them from a certain perspective doesn't change the fact that we don't have them and they won't be included yet
See, making those ships really takes extreme amounts of time and effort. So to go through all the trouble of modeling, uvwing, texturing, converting and tabling these monsters and then not use them in our own campaign would be kinda dumb, not to mention a waste. The moment we have them they'll be used.

Yeah, WiH continues the story of my favorite sci fi game ever, and Diaspora continues the story of my favorite sci fi TV show ever. It's a hard choice, so I'm just gonna have to love em both.

Personally, i want R1 first, but the gap to WIH is so small, not even a KEW round fits into it.

I also want a computer that can handle more then two higher poly models in a max scene

No, it wouldn't be awesome.  A few Furies at 3.0kt would rip the Big G to shreds, never mind a MX-50 at 16.5 kt.
