The culinary misadventures of my friends and I often involve Mtn. Dew and legitimate chemistry. Our recent experiments have been so delicious I felt I had to share them with a slice of the cult that worships it - the gaming community. So, here's a some of amazing things you can do with Dew.
Figure 8:
Reduce Mtn. Dew Voltage down on a stove to about 1/4 its original volume. Remove and mix with fourteen tablespoons of sugar, a packet of blue Koolaid, and an equal amount of lemon seltzer. It tastes like sour skittles! It's best to drink it sparingly, the flavor lasts a while and it's very strong. It takes a lot of experimentation to find a perfect balance of reduction of the Voltage and lemon seltzer, but it's worth it. Quite possibly the most amazing beverage ever.
Note - Figure 8 ice cubes taste like extremely watered down Koolaid.
Also, for you who aren't part of the Dew cult and don't know, Voltage is blue raspberry flavored so don't go trying to make this with 7 Up or Sprite.
Raple Syrup:
Reduce Voltage on a stove until it's somewhat thick (not too much or else it turns green and hardens into something with the texture of a lollipop and the taste of burnt caramel) then add a teaspoon of vanilla. Add a couple spoonfuls of butter and allow it to emulsify. Spread on pancakes for DEWCAKES.
Trefoil:
Put vanilla ice cream in a blender and enough regular Mtn. Dew to fill the blender about 2/3 of the way to the top of the ice cream, then level it off with milk. The result tastes much more amazing than you'd think. The Dew and the ice cream both retain their flavors and mix quite well. Also works with root beer, but that just tastes like a float. Using Voltage doesn't quite taste as good.
And, on a different note, we also made flammable ice cubes with isopropyl alcohol.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, Figure 8 makes great slushees. Just add shaved ice!
