Blame the cat

Dogs have been blamed for eating homework - now a Florida man says his cat downloaded child pornography.

Police are charging Keith Griffin of Jensen Beach, Florida with 10 counts of possession of child pornography after finding more than 1,000 images on his personal computer.

Griffin told police he had been downloading music, and that his cat jumped on the keyboard when he left the room. He said "strange things" appeared on the computer when he returned.

He is being held in Martin county jail on $250,000 bond. No word on any charges against the cat.

I don't think it makes sense. Even if a cat is that smart, it is impossible for it to download 1000 images unless the guy left for two hours.

The story didn't say that those 1000 images were the ones he claims his cat downloaded, just that a 1000 images were found on the computer. Maybe I'm wrong, but AFAIK it's common in child porn cases like this that the number of "images" found on the computer is stated, not the number of "images actually containing child porn".

Or as karajorma said, maybe just porn pics in general.

As usual on the internet, I don't remember which case(s) it was where that kind of false method of counting was presumably used to get a nice high number of "pictures found" while the actual number of child porn pictures was much less, so I don't really have anything to back that up. Hence the "Maybe I'm wrong, but AFAIK" bit. Make of that what you will, but at least it wouldn't really surprise me one bit if it was true.
