Joystick throttle recognition issue (Saitek AV8R)
First let me say, I just bought this game last night and did the updating to FS2 open 3.6.10, as well as the media VPs, and all I have to say is WOW.  The difference between the retal version and FS2 Open is like night and day.  You guys do good work here.

I've mostly got the game and the controls configured the way I like it now, except that the game is having trouble recognizing throttle 2 on my Saitek AV8R joystick.  I can assign it to absolute throttle successfully on the config screen, but it does nothing ingame.  Assigning it to throttle 1 works just fine, but I'm left handed and number 2 is easier to access with my right hand (left hand being on the stick).  I'd just leave it on throttle 1 and hit the little connector tab that makes the throttles move in tandem, but the controls are sorta loose that way.

Throttle 2 works just fine in flight sim X, so I know it's not dead.  Is there anything I can do to get it to work?

Well, FS2 isn't really build to recognize more than one Throttle control. So your best option would be to link the throttles and play that way.

Use PPJoy?

Ah, ok.  I'll just link the throttles then.  Thanks for the help.

I noticed the PPjoy info page says it's for parallel port controllers.  Does it work for USB too? Also, what would that do to help?

I bought a Saitek ST290 and had no throttle response in the game, either.  I ended up assigning the 1/3 2/3 fullpower fullstop keys to different bands in the throttle travel range.  Close enuff   ;)
