Do you use torrents? (A survey)
Just a little survey I'm doing for a project of mine.  You can remain anonymous, but you can post about what you torrent if you want.

Thanks for voting. :)

Poll closes in a month.

The question is poorly phrased. No to the way it's phrased, because of the "websites" bit. Yes otherwise.

Note to would-be idiots: torrents are not illegal, in and of themselves, and they never should be.

Animes (Fansubs) due to unavailability in Germany are the only things I torrent. Not like anyone can tell me they are losing money because of me if I can't buy it.
That might change as soon as my Japanese is sufficient to watch those things unsubbed.

Regarding legality many companies nowadays like to put stuff on P2P.

Blizzard is one of those, I recall, although they have their very own client. Linux distributions also like to spread through P2P.

That said, and taking redsniper's words, I also do "download (of) copyrighted materials for which I am not legally licensed". And I'd call anyone a liar if they said otherwise about themselves at any point in time.

Re: Do you use torrents? (A survey)
Don’t use torrents as I have never had a need for them.

I think in the public eye, the word ‘torrent’ has become synonymous with illegal file sharing and distribution of movies and songs.

I'm not a major user, it's useful for the TBP DVD for instance, but there are too many dodgy seeders out there for me to use them as much as i'd like. Mainly because my new method of connection fails to utilise them.

Re: Do you use torrents? (A survey)
I often use it to download movies and TV series that I otherwise wouldn't be able to see (stuff that I can't find on YouKu, which is a problem rarely encountered). I don't have a working DVD player of any kind (computer DVD player only plays CDs), and even if I did some of that stuff like MST3K are impossible to find, which only leaves ordering it from other countries which won't work because of ****ty region coding.

Re: Do you use torrents? (A survey)
I would appreciate if people would stop admitting their illegal activities considering this community is about a game that is still on sale in GoG, and HLP may even have some sort of affiliation with them in the future. Source code of said game was also provided to us in good will by game developer company. In that light is doesn't really speak for us if community members openly admit of pirating games or other software, as commonplace as that may be. While this topic is about discussing torrents, it doesn't mean that you have to tell specifics about what you're torrenting, especially if illegal.

That is all, carry on. (And don't forget there is edit button)

Never admitted anything illegal... but whatever, wasn't just directed at me. :P

Out of curiosity, what do most people torrent legally?
