Make it up? Are they going to fact-check your story?

As I recall, those enormous rear-projector lamp televisions ran between four and ten thousand dollars.  Don't quote me though.

flapt panels i saw in the store for $25000 at one point. projection tvs were betweeen $1000 and $3000 but had horrible picture as far as i am concerned. we had a 42" progection tv when i was a kid, i think it was a $2000 set. this was around the time fs2 came out. i remember trying to play freespace2 on it.

I did some computer work for a guy and we talked a bit about this.  He had one about 10 years ago and it cost him about $3000.  It was projection, but I don't remember the size.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Not that I was paying much attention in the time, but the mid-thousands range sounds like what I remember seeing in stores.

Over here, they were going for something like 2000 to 5000 Deutsche Mark.

I remember about 2 grand for the standard ones around that size.  Just like with HD you could go a lot higher with better features and the whole console unit.  They dropped like a rock after Plasma hit.  So it depends on what you mean by before HDTV.  Do you mean the technology, the sets, sets of the relative size, readily available HD for the home?

We, meaning me and my wife, Patricia, bought a 60in projection tv about 10 years ago.
Paid 3000 american dollars then.

It has seen better days cause now it randomly shuts off... pfffff....
Guess we`ll be getting an HDTV, hopefully..... Soon........

I recommend plasma over LCD, so far ours has a clearer picture and better image quality than my sister's same size in LCD.
