Sweden finds bio-friendly way to create power - PETA enraged
http://www.geek.com/articles/news/sweden-is-burning-bunnies-for-biofuel-20091015/

Quote
In the age of rapidly melting polar ice caps, we need alternative sources of energy now more than ever. Solar power, wind power, hydro-electric dams, nuclear power… all decent starts in the noble attempt to reduce CO2 emissions. But have we tapped all available alternative energy sources? Could we be doing something more?

The Swedes certainly think so. They’ve come up with a novel alternative energy source for heating their homes with thick, red biofuel: bunny rabbits.

According to Der Spiegel, stray rabbits are being shot by the thousands in Stockholm. They are then frozen and shipped to a heating plant to be incinerated by Konvex, a subsidiary of the Danish company Daka Biodiesel, which makes automotive and heating fuels from vegetable and animal oils and fats.

As that implies, bunny rabbits aren’t the only things being incinerated by the Swedes. Stockholm is also shipping dead cats, cows, deer and horses to the Kovex plant for processing. But bunny rabbits are certainly amounting for a fair amount of the caloric heat in Swedish homes this winter: apparently, the last two years in particular have resulted in a veritable plague of wild rabbits devouring the city’s parks.

To be fair to the Swedes, they aren’t alone in melting animals for biofuels. For example, in the United States, ConocoPhillips and Tyson make biofuel from pigs and chickens, which is then used in cosmetics and soaps. But, psychologically, that’s a lot different than a furnace full of bunny blood, isn’t it?

Someone should warn blackhole.

I suppose it's going to be stray llamas next. :shaking:

Seriously, though, this is hardly a story. :) As far as I can tell, the bunnies are being shot anyway (overpopulation problem). This is just an efficient way to dispose of the carcass.

So what happens when they run out of bunnies?

They start harvesting the homeless, of course. THAT'S WHAT SOCIALISM DOES!!!

First they came for the bunnies, and I said nothing because I was not a bunny...

In my opinion wouldn't this spur a killing of animals for a profit from bio fuel?  I mean overpopulation is one thing.  But were not exactly scraping bunnies of the highway.  Anyway just a thought.

Kill every rabbit north of the Pyrenees

set them on fire

suffocate them into their holes

drop nerve gas agents into their hives

release horrible predators to tear tender flesh of the young and old

make them blind, make them excrete blood

close them into their burrows

shoot escapees on sight

release lethal diseases

fill their homes with smoke, filling them with terror, and wait outside with your gun loaded, bright red blood screaming crimson on the white snow. breathe heavily and laugh and raise the stock of your shotgun as the first dazed survivors try to get away. you can hear the screams when the ferrets find yet another victim somewhere deep underground. you pick up some pickled onions and stretch your legs, joking with your wife, then BAMM the rabbitt kicks, then again. still alive. release the dachshound of war. their small tails wiggle and they look happy when they tear the frightened rabbit to shreds. "daddy can we go home now" the children ask. they are bored. hit them with the butt of your gun, hit them hard. more blood. it is a good day to slaughter rabbits, don't let those little ****s, waste of sperm really, to ruin it.

kill every single rabbitt on your path and at the day's end, you will still lose

but kill them anyways
lol wtf

iirc the nazis did something similar with the jews, they just never thought to use the heat for power generation.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

That was the dumbest power source ever. Then they were like 'supplemented by nuclear fusion.'

That's like saying

'Our 747-400 is powered by a mouse in a hamster wheel, supplemented by jet engines. We hope you enjoy today's flight.'

At least it's not penguins. Penguins are win.

And, when you think about it, this could be THE MOST RENEWABLE RESOURCE EVER CONCIEVED. Think about it. What happens when rabbits breed like rabbits?

Rabbits2

And that's before you factor in population, food supply, and forced mating by humans once they realize my genius.

First they came for the rabbits, and I did not speak out—because I was not a rabbit;
Then they came for the horses, and I did not speak out—because I was not a horse;
Then they came for the deer, and I did not speak out—because I was not a deer;
Then they came for the cows, and I did not speak out—because I was not a cow;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
