What Goes Around.....
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/8322322.stm

Quote
BNP leader Nick Griffin is to complain to the BBC over his controversial appearance on Question Time, saying he had faced a "lynch mob".

Anyone else find that as ****ing hilarious as I do?

Note for non-brits

Quote
Mr Griffin, who was one of two BNP candidates to be elected to the European Parliament earlier this year, faced robust questioning about his views on race, immigration and the Holocaust from a largely hostile audience.

He criticised Islam, defended a past head of the Ku Klux Klan but insisted that he was "not a Nazi".

Well, technically he's not a Nazi. I don't know who the heck he is, so he might be a Nationalist Socialist, but he's certainly not German worker.

Yeah, I don't see him getting into the Deutches part.

Of course, he's probably a neo-Nazi, as that is not bound by birth country.

You don't necessarily need to be a neo-nazi to be a right wing super nutter.....

Yes, but considering who I'm talking about, do you really think he isn't?

I just watched the whole show yesterday, and unfortunately in my opinion that's a pretty good description of how he was treated most of the time. Half of the panelists themselves were pretty much just insulting him outright half the time, which is just stupid when it's supposed to be a civil discussion no matter who you're having the discussion with. Not to mention those couple of infantile rants from the audience. At least it wasn't a total disaster all the time, as a couple of times he was actually allowed to speak about something relevant and make a fool of himself.

The guy is so clearly an idiot that it should be bloody easy to win any debate with him by actually, you know, debating instead of acting like a 5-year old and just hitting him with your toy shovel because you don't like him.

Re: What Goes Around.....
Problem is, the Government, by constantly trying to whitewash him, have actually helped increase his fame, they blame the BBC, but he wouldn't even have been a viable condidate were it not for the level of 'shut him up!' coming from MPs.

I think Griffin is an idiot, but, he does show the Government up in some ways, because he, in his idiotic manner, approaches subjects that the Government is too busy denying to actually make policies on or even accept exist, he does show the Governments' head in the sand attitude.

Don't get me wrong, I don't support Griffin, or any of his views, but when people are standing outside the BBC, claiming to be 'anti-fascist', whilst, at the same, demanding the arbitrary silencing of an opinion, no matter how ridiculous it is (and remember, Griffin has an MEP seat, which adds credibility whether people like it or not), then I get worried, I don't know who these people are trying to protect, but their actions are not those of anti-facists, quite the opposite, in fact.

I saw the show and I agree with pretty much everything you say here.  I did notice that whenever the only 2 or 3 supportive members of the audience applauded him, other members would glance back, practically scowling at them and the one person who dared raise his voice and give verbal support was practically ignored by the panel.  There has been talk that the BBC rushed a number of audience members through the checking process so they could have a much more 'diverse' audience.  I don't support the BNP but I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC was asking potential audience members "Do you hate the BNP?  Yes?  Good, you get in.  Do you hate the BNP?  No?  Get lost."  Obviously one or two people lied when asked that question  :drevil:

I don't hate the BNP. I don't know what it and its acronym stand for, either.  :ick:

If memory serves, it stands for British National Party and it's pretty much a catch all for the nitwits, dunderheads and scumbags that the Democratic party and certain segments of the Republicans catch over here.

The BNP is a far-right, xenophobic, overtly racist political party. So... no, memory does not serve.

Turambar, before you start throwing mud, how about you actually get to know some real conservatives before you pronounce judgement that everyone not in perfect agreement with you is stupid and uneducated and can be safely ignored.

I, and most actual conservatives, want what's best for the good ol' US of A and the people living here.  Such does not include massive government programs(and the taxes that come with them)that result in an oligarchy in function if not name.

Every time, EVERY THRICE DAMNED TIME, one of you yahoos talks about conservatives we're racists, bigots, and homophobes and stupid and ignorant and about two dozen more adjectives that I'm not going to bother typing.  I'm sick of it.

I don't know this man that is being harrangued and having his character assassinated, nor do I care to, all I can see is a bunch of sterotypical liberals passing off they're opposition by pulling out the race card.  I AM SICK OF IT.
