Author Topic: beam weapon problems  (Read 1541 times)

I know a lot of people already started this topic, but I still habe a problem with the beam-weapons.

I went into the mission specs and did that thing with All Ships Beam-Freed by Default. So my ships fire once with their huge beam-weapons, with their small beam-weapons they are shooting all the time.

How do I make them fire more often with their huge weapons?? I just don't get, maybe I'm too stupid or I made a mistake..

Sorry for my English, I'm from Austria.

Which ships? What huge beam weapons are we talking about?

Have the huge beam turrets been destroyed? Are they in arc? Are you waiting more than thirty seconds?

I'm talking about capital ships, GTD Orion or SC Moloch, ships like those. And I'm talking bout the beam weapons with which they atackk each other. Know what I mean?

Using the generic "Attack" command for capship on capship battles often isn't the best way to go about it for big beam fights, since the ships will tend to try to broadside each other, which is generally not the best way go since large sections of their beam firearcs become unavailable. For proper beam battles you have to do a bit of choreography with waypoints and the fire-beam sexp.

Beams also fire less often based on difficulty level.  If your playing on easy you won't see very many beam shots.  Play on insane and you will have beams everywhere.  So to see if they are able to fire turn the difficulty up to insane and see if they are shooting.  If they are then it's normal behavior that they aren't firing as often on lower difficulties.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras
