Well. I've been discussing it briefly with the IRC'ers but I think it's time I put the discussion up on the forums

So, I've been getting the Freelancer urge recently. It has since calmed down but I still feel like playing it, with one condition. I would like to have some wingmates/trading partners (whatever you like doing in Freelancer/Whatever you are good at)

I've managed to recover one of my chars on the Hamburg server (A minimal mod server, meaning it doesn't change as much as say...Discovery or others). You can read about it at www.freelancerserver.de (No. You won't have to learn german to play in the server)

He's got a good amount of money and could help two maybe three get a good quick start.

I think I've got two chars on the Disco 24/7 RP server, and assuming they still live after this DDOS attack. It could also be a viable server for us

What do you guys think?

Never played freelancer online...rather, I spent almost 2 years playing nothing but single player and no other game but that (I'm serious).

Seems like it'd be mighty fun, though. But since my escapade playing Freelancer non-stop for so long, my urge to play is somewhat...tired.
Fun while it lasted.

Then bitter.

If you're looking for a server to try, you really should consider 24/7 Procyon Dedicated. (www.procyonserver.com) It’s a vanilla server, but don’t let that discourage you from trying it out. There’s a ton to like – it has a great admin team, and it’s about as stable as it gets. The admins periodically organize server events with cash prizes and other assorted awards. Just last weekend, for example, there was a 2 vs. 2 player-vs.-player tournament. Clans can also fight for ownership of a system in a best-of-3 last-man-standing system battle. These battles are often huge events – it’s not unheard of for 10-15 players to show up. I’ve personally fought in at least one battle with that many players on each side.

Last but certainly not least, the admins have developed a client-side enhancement (not a mod) called ProcyonHook. In a nutshell, you get improved graphics, in-game clan management, unlocked vanilla and single-player content (for example, you can buy Juni’s Defender and the Anubis), widescreen resolution support, character startup templates, and more. There’s a lot more information on ProcyonHook on Procyon’s website.

Basically, I feel like I can’t recommend Procyon highly enough. I’ve played there off and on for over three years, and it’s only gotten better over that time. I strongly encourage anyone interested in online Freelancer to give Procyon a try. If any of you HLPers happen to see me in-game, feel free to say hi (all my characters have Furby somewhere in their names). I might even share a small part of my personal $70 million fortune with you if you ask nicely. :P
