Is anyone actually watching this?

If yes, what do you think?

I've been watching. Seems pretty unremarkable so far; they're going to have to get a lot more creative before I see much more than an attempt to cash in on the success of "Battlestar Galactica."

Yeah, they need to step it up.  There's pretty much nothing for the rebels to aspire to at this point.  Also, the bad guys don't have a motive yet.

I'll care more when I know what the "good guys" are trying to stop.

That's sorta how V works, kids. Lost took a lot of cues from the first incarnation of this.

I don't care about the withholding of information regarding motives and such. In fact, I'd prefer if I knew less. Right now I can't shake the feeling that whatever they do reveal later on is not going to be particularly interesting. The whole thing just feels overwhelmingly "blah," because they haven't convinced me that they're doing anything artful or compelling.

Although, I'm starting to worry that BSG just doomed me to hold everything to that standard.

i kinda find this show kinda dull so far. yes its another attempt to capitalize on the success of bsg and yes theyre doing it wrong. at least stargate universe is kinda pulling it off. i kinda expected this to be lame because its broadcast tv and they cant get away with the things that cable can. still they could be doing something to make the show more interesting. actually at this point i find the original v to be a lot more entertaining.

bsg's sucess was in the fact that nobody had done something like that before, now that its been done, anything else that tries to do the same thing will always be unoriginal.

Y'all don't get it.

V was like this when the first series aired. There is no effort here to rip off BSG. There are only better production values of the original series, the original tone, and a timeslot that isn't at 1AM.

I didn't say they were ripping off BSG; I just think they saw an opportunity to draw the same appeal by redoing an old sci-fi series. But that's not even my objection to it; as has been mentioned, it's just boring. And because I'm bored by it, the only thing that stands out to me is how clumsy an attempt it is to be cerebral in a manner that is analogous to BSG.

no the original v was way better than this. and really the only thing that this has in common with bsg is the wigglecam.

I've only seen the first two episodes, but I've gotta admit I'm not loving it. Morena Baccarin has never appealed to me as a particularly good actress - even in Firefly she was probably my least favourite of the main cast - and they've hamstrung a big chunk of her main appeal (hotness) witht hat haircut. In fact, the only one who I've actually liked is Alan Tudyk, who I've liked in everything I've seen (admittedly, only this, Dollhouse and Firefly, but still). Other than him we've got a bunch of vague motivations and underdeveloped characters and a similarly vague sense of menace that just isn't carrying the series well enough for my liking.

Willing to give it a few more weeks though, see how it goes.

I stopped watching when they used the 'flashforward' plot device in a rather cliche way.

The episode starts with the main character running up to the body of a good minor character in a parking garage. She checks his body, then another good minorcharacter runs towards her and fires his gun in her direction.

"14 hours later"

They go through some stuff, and wuddya know: THE PARKING GARAGE. The minor character who shot the gun wasn't actually firing at the protagonist, but at someone behind her!

WOW

I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!!!!!

I thought it was pedantic, predictable, poorly written and more or less god awful acting.

I watched 3 of the 4 episodes. My wife watched the 4th. She said it didn't get any better.

Not loosing sleep over it.

It's better than FlashForward (so far - both could go either direction easily).

Castle, OTOH... ;7

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Actually, I think they both suck about the same. Flash Forward has the advantage of not being easily compared to a previous identical iteration.

The writing is marginally better on FF.

Castle, ok, its pure camp, but I enjoy the actors and the screen chemistry. The stories are crap :)

The part where he dresses up as a "Space Cowboy" for Halloween was probably the hardest I've laughed at a TV program in a long while.
