How to make hierarchy in Blender ?
Hi all,

Well, since we don't have enought models for End Project: Enlight the Galaxy. I'm taking a step to do some 3D modelling. But well, I used to work with Truespace but my model was totally crap during the conversion that I stop modelling.

Now, I decided to use Blender. It seems more powerfull, more stable and more professionnal than Truespace. So Ifound out some basic tutorials.
The question is, how can I setup my model hierarchy like in Truespace ?

I mean like this screenshot:

Did you read Vasudan Admiral's guide on the Wiki for Blender conversion?  It probably covers that.

If you want to make model i won't prevent you to do it for sure  ;)
But what we lack  is map not model as we have a lot that hasn't been uvmapped and mapped yet.
For the hierarchy i don't know in blender, but i setup mostly everything in pcs2 personnaly (fire point thruster docking point etc... ).
$Formula: ( every-time
   ( has-time-elapsed "0" )
   ( Do-Nothing
   )
   ( send-message

      "High"
      "Pro-crasti-nate"
   )

I think it mentions it but you have to be looking really close to see it

Firstly have you split the screen to have a window that shows hierarchy? if not right click on the edge of the screen and select split then in the first icon at the bottom of the new window select the Outliner button (looks like an upside down stack of boxes) this will show your hierarchy tree

Then select the object of the two you want lowest in the hierarchy then shift select the one you want highest and ctrl+j its called parent function in blender

edit: added pictures to demonstrate hierarchy

Thanks, I have now the hierarchy tree. However, I don't understand how do you use the parent function. I did ctrl + J after I selected both object in the hierarchy tree, but Blender do nothing.
