Re: 1st nebula mission yellow screen of death
Not quite sure what is going wrong here, it's an error I haven't seen before.

Now, to get started on fixing it, I need you to run the game using an FsOpen debug build. To do that, use the FSO Launcher, select a debug build (called fs2_open_3_6_10d.exe), play the nebula mission with it until the error appears, then quit.
After that, go to the data folder in the FS2 directory, and post the fs2_open.log file here.

OK, let me guess - you played raw retail version on modern machine with GeForce 8-9XXX GPU onboard but not FSO.
I got same thing. But then I simply installed FSO correctly (this is very important) and now everything works fine. Possible solution - FSO correct (manual) installation. BTW did you specified correct folder for the FSO installer to unpack all the extra files?

Re: 1st nebula mission yellow screen of death
well i have no idea for the specs on my computer but i got FSO working but when i try to run it through the FSO then it just crashed the game =( i did all the selecting and stuff there was just 1 thing i could not select for which was the mods one but thats ok because i do not want any mods i just wanna play the normal game without the yellow screen... i could not correctly follow the instructions on the website i got FSO from because they were way to complicated so i do not know if i designated a file to designate for the extra files... so basicly i have my freespace 2 folder on my desktop then in it is everything for FS2 and also the folder for FSO which i named installer and then in that there is the installer then another folder which has folder inside folder after that for a couple times... any idea what i could do to fix it?

Re: 1st nebula mission yellow screen of death
oh wait actually i did put a few things in a different folder 14 different things to be exact but a few of them are called... Launcher, fs2_open_3_6_9_debug, fred2_open_3_6_9_debug, fs2_open_3_6_9, and fred2_open_3_6_9

Good lord. I think you should probably get a clean install of FS2 and follow the FS2Open installation instructions from the top. Check the Support board.

Re: 1st nebula mission yellow screen of death
great... well i guess i'll give it a try... your referring to the support board on the FSO website i presume... oh well thanks

He's actually referring to the Support board here on HLP, whose stickies have all sorts of useful info on how to set up a working install of FS2Open.

On a related note, this isn't really about the FreeSpace Upgrade Project.
