Ouch... I've been beaten to a pulp...

Seriously guys, we know this is an issue... let me explain to you what is happening, because as a faithful community, you deserve to know. About six months ago, Setekh and I, with MUCH help from Cobalt, began a total rework of the MOD database. Instead of being completely text driven, it would include preview pictures for EVERY mod, as well as detailed descriptions, file sizes, author contact info, and other things. As you can imagine, this process was HUGE, and it took us the better part of a month. We ran into every bug known to man, and the process/interface itself is incredibly tedious. Thunder and I, as well as a couple others had to learn the basics of using the MySQL language, in order to use the input interface. Overall, it was by far the largest project the HLP staff has ever taken on.
As we spent more and more of our time on the conversion, the current version of the database was never updated. It seemed pointless to update it the old way, just to redo it again when we got to that point. A combination of several major bugs and time consuming activities IRL have limited our progress towards the final product, and for that I appologize.
Here's the bottom line: I leave the decision up to you. We can release the
almost finished MOD database right now. There may still be bugs, and errors that we have not caught, since we have not completed a quality assurance phase. Or, you can wait about 1 more month for the complete version. I spent the bulk of my time on the project during last summer, when I didnt have college stuff breathing down my neck. School lets out here exactly 1 month from today, at which time I plan to turn my FULL attention back to HLP and my "TPS" campaign (for those of you who are wondering). My feelings are, you've waited this long, so I would wait for the bug free version. But I am willing to do whatever it takes to please the community as a whole.
So vote away!
