Hi all ! I'm new to Freespace and it's sequel and have just tried out Freespace 2 demo. I've played similar space combat games such as AceOnline and enjoys space combat games in 3rd person view.

I was turn off by the 3rd person view in the original FS 2 until I chance upon the SCP.

The 3rd person view of the ship where you can see the exterior of your ship, and the hud  which you can't in the original.

I have two questions as follows:

1. Is there PVP in multiplayer ?

2. Can you customized your ship in the game like buying new weapons/ships/engines ?

1. Yes
2. No, there is no buying stuff or changing engines. Yes, you can choose whatever ship is available in a mission and customize the ship's weapons, again from what are available in the mission.

1 Yes, albeit you'll need to know other people to play multiplayer because servers are usually empty.

2 You can of course choose all your loadout (ie ship, primary weapons, missiles), and even those of your wingmates, before most missions. You can't buy anything because that's not the spirit of FS, you're a military pilot, so you fly what you're given . Could be something to add in the SCP if more people would be interested with this feature though.
The ships themselves can't be customized besides the loadout, but you have an enough vast selection to not be bored and to adapt most situations.
