So I walked into the bookstore today, and something in the new releases caught my attention.


Now my first thought upon seeing this cover was that somebody wrote a book taking a big pot shot at Glenn Beck and dreamed up a flagrant book cover.  Then upon further review I came to the realization this was in fact Glenn Beck's book and he was a Death's Head pin away from dressing up like a half assed Waffen SS.  Now I suppose he might have been shooting for something overly clever, but really that isn't the kind of imagery you should be inkvoking if you want me to take you seriously.

oh ho ho ho.  it's funny because he is claiming to not be an idiot, and also claiming to not be small minded, and i'm sure the people who read the book will think so too.

then someone will try to argue with them using facts, and hopefully they'll go back to feeling dumb.

Maybe Glen Beck is an idiot, maybe he isn't. The strategy behind his show though is the same as the "Bring out the base" concept that elected Bush and it's no fool of one either. If through emotional appeal, you can play to people's fears of God and Communism, they become immune to any logical argument against you. Glen Beck is not out to convince people. He exists to get the people who agree with him riled-up, active, and staunchly opposed persuasion. This strategy is fueled by things that grab attention, thus stunts like this book cover.

If there's someone to be furious at, it's Rupert Murdoch. Glen Beck is nothing but the forked propaganda tongue of that poisonous old snake. Without Glen Beck, the Daily Show would lose it's main source of humor. Without Rupert Murdoch (and men like him), the world would be a far better place.
