Actually the current plan was for it to be a dropin replacement for what we have now,

@karajorma: The other issue is that we're statically linked - we can't use LGPL code.

I am a bored coder from time to time.

Unless there are two open source 3d graphics engines called ogre, it uses the MIT licence now, which is a lot more permissive than LGPL.

This thread seems to have degenerated into shouting out what you're unhappy about/want from the engine which seems slightly non-ideal. But on that note: hardware tessellation!
