The FreeSpace Wiki, of course! It should be on the top of your browser next to the Forums tab. It's stuffed with all manner of FS and FS-derived/related goodness. It's also a great way to waste some time (keep clicking on "random page").

I was thinking you were talking about the BSG wiki.For some reason Beyond The Red Line is listed as a fan game but Diaspora isnt.Mabey if I have time I can sign up for a wiki account and add it.

This is off topic but does anyone know were I can download a .vp extractor?

Also was the ship you were talking from the TOS BSG mod the defender?That would be great in Diaspora.Everythings there including the turret guns!All it needs is some good new series style textures similar to the Bolitho and it would fit in perfectly with the rest of the fleet!

I'm attempting a search for any old trails leading to anything linked to it...
But all search results yielded are <not a bad thing> flooded with Diaspora and BTRL

Thanks for that link.I did manage to get the raider and MK 1 Viper in the game.I used BTRL as the base.Ill try and take a good screen pic to post soon.

Well, the Viper definately looks more dated than Raptor's version, but I do recognize the missile platform down at the bottom:

...I wonder if some of those assets weren't used in Raptor's mod attempt as well...

I'll admit that I don't want to put myself in a position where I have learn how to do Wiki editing - I've got too many projects as is. But damn, we really need to get an incomplete/abandoned mod listing going in the Wiki. Sooner or later, absolutely NO ONE is going to know about any of these archaic projects, what they managed to achieve, or have any simple way of finding out about them.

WHAT I AM impressed with is that you got that in game, working, in such a short amount of time without all the pain experienced by so many other people trying to get new assets to work properly.

It was easy.All I did was just extract the vp files and copy the models and textures into the folders and edited the ship list file.For the weapons I just changed the lasers to the standard MEC-A6 guns.Im working on the raider now.

I did quite a bit of work on those assets, re-exporting them to fix collision issues and locating missing textures, etc.  I had a full set of stuff working together in game at one point, but the interest seemed to have died out in them.

Is good stuff there, the Hades class Basestar is part of my BtRL Modfolder.
I use it only as a "Blockade" ship though ( like the Tradefederation ships in SW ep I ), since it has the habit of turning in a vertical position during attacks/ waypoint movement, and i'm too lazy to fix that.

I didn't know BtRL had a Hades. Does Diaspora still have it? Or was this removed when the BtRL team split into two. I've said it before but the Hades is very funny to watch in-game. At least by interpretation of it which was based on the show. 100+ turrets, all making stupid sound effects, all of them somehow incredibly inaccurate. Really it achieved little more than putting on an impressive light show. Unless you stick two or three of them next to a Battlestar. In which case they don't have to be quite so accurate to hit the slow big target, and slowly but surely they'll pulverise it.
