How do you make "radio crackle"?
take a power source (preferably a wall outlet), stick some tin foil in, and scrape it against a metal file. A nearby radio will pick it up!

I know thats not what you mean..... but its still cool...

wall outlets are fun

Fell off my chair laughing when I read that...;)
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Isn't there some type of filters in Goldwave to allow you to do that or is it one of those simple programs.  I personally used Sound Forge.

There are many ways to get 'static', what you call radio crackle.  You could use a spefic option for it or you can play around with any number or things from reverb to phasing it.  But honestly I wouldn't be able to tell you how to do it in Goldwave.
Thats no moon... hes dropped his pants!

Or you could fill a light bulb with gun powder so it explodes when you turn it on! Make a great ship explosion noise!

Well, I fiddled around a bit and came up with the following static sounds.  I tried making a convincing radio crackle, but failed miserably.  For what it's worth, though, you can have the following samples of sound that I made.  There's 10 seconds of white noise, 10 seconds of pink noise, and then 10 seconds of brown noise.  Mixing and matching those, coupled with some fading in and out of distortion effects on the soundfile itself should come up with something interesting.

I spent a while trying to come up with a good radio crackle sound. Eventually I just said it's the 23rd century. It's 6 years after the end of FS2. They've got better radios and ignored it. :D
