I'm playing on a 2GHz duo, 3 GB ram, Vista Home Premium and a NVIDIA 8400M GS video card.
I don't *think* I'll have any problem running the game when there are hundreds of objects on screen.
So of course I'm looking to get the best graphics possible.

I have the default flags set in the launcher, presumably put there by the 3.6.10 installer:
-ambient_factor 70 -spec_exp 8.2 -spec_tube 1.0 -spec_point 8.6 -spec_static 3.5

Then I saw this post:

which suggests these flags:
-ambient_factor 0 -no_emissive_light -spec_exp 11 -spec_point .6 -spec_static .8 -spec_tube .4 -ogl_spec 80

Any advice for flag settings?

Well, since the values affect different lighting effects, it's really a matter of personal taste. And monitor. Example sets are listed here, with screenshots, so you can pick whatever seems nice and then test the game to see if it looks good. As for which flag does what, see command-line reference.
