As some of you have noticed I've only been around a couple of times in the last couple of weeks, this was due to the unavoidable circumstance of my previous computer being turned into a big paperweight. During the first week I wasn't sure whether or not it was worth it to get another one, but looking at my classes for next term again made me realize that I really can't get by without one. Then the next week was deciding what to get, either second hand or a really cheap new system from a local brand, and I went with the second choice. I was able to get a pretty good system for a low price, hopefully it will last for several more years.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Yes, a brand I actually never heard of until a friend recommended it to me. So far so good.

Maybe in the US it's more famous. I'd never heard of them in the UK before I got here.

you can build a fairly decent system for less than $400 bucks. and if you salvage things like hard drives, or any kind of drives, cases, video cards, ect, you can get that price way down. buy a nice case and it will be the last one you need for many years (or at least until the form factor becomes obsolete).
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

I thought about going with a desktop (as your suggesting) because it is cheaper, but I decided against it because I need something I can take anywhere I need to. Portability is something desktops dont have.

In China it is.

I found a lot of its prices were comparible to other foreign brands like Sony. It was cheaper, but not by much. Their lowest end 14"-15" systems were no less than 4500 yuan.

Hehe this is fun. :D
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

I know several people who use them and never had problems.

I like mine. It has served me far better than any Compaq or HP desktop my family has ever owned (which is all of them).
