Again, totally missing the point.

If this song raises even a penny for Haiti you should be more than willing to overlook its faults.  Hell, even if Uwe Boll made a movie and donated the proceeds to charity I couldn't care less about the movie itself. 

 


Charity songs are for charity, not enjoyment. Only people who donate to said charity or buy an album should be allowed to comment on its quality

As for the song...This is not bad. It is not awful. It is not stupid. It is where bad and awful and stupid and bad combine together like the Voltron episode That Sanity Forgot and destroy anything remotely resembling artistic talent or good feeling.

Sure I'll grant it's for a good cause, but that's no excuse for not even making an effort. If anything, they should have tried harder. So in the end all it does is reveal its own hypocripsy; they're not getting paid enough for their time to give a rat's ass about Haiti.

I wouldn't have any complaints if they had made a new song. That would be absolutely fine, and by today's musical standards, it would probably be radio-worthy, but to give an idea of how much they shamed the original, think of Uwe Boll remaking Citizen Kane. Yeah.

I wonder how much the participants on this song could have raised for Haiti if they'd just gone to their banks and each coughed up a couple of hundred thousand each. I'm fairly sure Vince Vaughn is in the background of one of the big scenes there - you're telling me he's going to raise more money through his contribution to this song than if he donated 10% of the proceeds of his last movie contract?

If it's a charity song, then I'd take the view that they are trying their best to sound crap and good at the same time, and it should be funny. As it is, how did we stumble upon this "remake"?
