A cast off from a drawing tutorial
Hi! I made this as part of a drawing tutorial. Sort of a step by step thing. Never got around to finishing it. But it's a freespace thing so I'll post the drawing.

Indeed, it's a really nice drawing.

Have you consider making some other fs drawings?

Nice.

What I need to draw your attention to now is this thread, which was started specifically for FS art, primarily of the pencil variety:

Hmmm? I drew this in Photoshop.

Really? I'd like to get Photoshop at some point - those sketch effects are pretty neat!

Re: A cast off from a drawing tutorial
Well, I don't know about sketch effects or anything. I just use a regular round brush and a regular round eraser. Hardness is usually around 100%. Same with opacity. I put the image I want in one window, and draw in another window.

It does require a tablet though. I've tried drawing with a mouse, and it's pretty tough. Very slow because every time you want to vary the line weight you have to manually change the brush size or trace over it. Tablets are pressure sensitive so you can do that just by pressing harder.

Speaking of which, would you like to try and "ink" the Herc 2 from the other thread? I could get you the higher resolution version if you'd prefer...

Re: A cast off from a drawing tutorial
Why would you want it inked? It looks fine the way it is.

From my experience, inking doesn't really do much for drawings like the one you've done. If it were a technical drawing that had to be clean then yes, inking it might be a good idea. But in this drawing inking wouldn't make it any better.

You should also consider why you want someone else to ink your drawings for you. Inking is tracing, plain and simple. It doesn't require a whole lot of skill. You could easily could do it yourself. However, I believe your time would be better spent making more drawings.

Ahh, no worries. Just musing about what it would look like colorized.

...For which, Photoshop would be the ideal tool. But meh, just ignore that one...  :D

That's why I don't ink mine, even though I have a Wacom Bamboo.

Well, that and I'm a lazy-ass.
Sig nuked! New one coming soon!
