I wouldn't want to hit anything bigger than a three-foot wave in something like that, though.

It's ment to go underwater, I don't think a big wave would present a big problem for it. It's too bad they dont give too many detailed technical and performance specs.

the replica shows they have a sense of humour I suppose. 

would have lol at that sub if it had launched when sonar picked it up and the bemused looks the sailors would have had that captured it.  would have lol harder if they torpedoed it

In truth they're "semi-submerged boats", not "submarines", like the Davis boats from the Civil War. The point is to hide from radar and you can do that if you get down to about the same level as the waves. You wouldn't want to completely submerge one.

The one in the link I posted looks like a fully functional sub, though, and it was certainly large enough to be one. Also, can we get a thread split for the drug subs? They are pretty cool discussion items...
