Just something I thought I would try. Here goes:
Long ago, humanity expanded into the stars, and found that they were indeed alone. As technology advanced, humanity gained almost godlike powers. Several groups emerged. The Genelords, masters of the biological, created entire ecosystems and spread new life to the empty universe. The Techlords (is that already taken? new name maybe?) masters of the mechanical, created technological marvels that bordered on magic. And the Gravlords (don't like the sound of that one, suggestions?) engineered the very worlds beneath their feet.
For a reason lost to time (aka I haven't thought of one) Galactic society collapsed around one thousand years ago. Now the humans of Earth have rediscovered the power to travel the stars, and numerous wonders await them...
Now it's your turn, let's make a universe, shall we? I guess one of the first things on the list is what the ships are like and what method of superluminal travel is used. Then charicters can be built and adventures had.
Also, there is a particular enginered species I would like to include, but I'll see how this goes first.
