As stated in the wiki, it's been broadcasted on the IDA Entertainment's Youtube channel, but only for the Nipponese. But seems like that doesn't prevent people upping subtitled one into the tubes. (can be found fansubbed as a torrent aswell in various torrent sites)

Dialogue: I don't know if it was just the sub, but the characters don't seem to speak in proper military fashion, or in ways that make sense in the given situation. 

Spoiler:

"We are behind a wall, the rest are enemies. Kill them." *bunch of buildings get the Hell bombed out of them.

Plot: There was a small bit of character development (stretching that term, here), but I was kind of hoping for more background.  Of course, the first was basically a tech-demo.  Maybe in the next episode or two, we'll get some plot going.

I think I read somewhere that they're supposed to be mercenaries, not US military. So that might have something to do with it. Or it may just be artistic license.

closing a topic causes people to talk about it elsewhere if there was still a desire to talk about it.

this is a common literary technique, just drop the audience/reader into the middle of some random adventure to get the accustomed to the quirks of the world o the story before you start throwing plot developments into the mix. this is especially common in anime where it is effectively the default way to start up a story.

It appears on the screen at the beginning, that they're mercenaries.  That doesn't excuse the kindergarten level of "we're here, they're there."  Which is why I'm partial to the belief that it was a poor sub.

My point was that they took it to the extreme, with the only background given being two (?) names and a profession.  That, and the fact that the first episode is virtually the same as the trailer.  Ergo, tech. demo.

A good example of medias in res would be High School of the Dead's (anime adaptation) introduction.
