The volitile, shifty, rolling highlight banner has begun it's long cycle.

Vassago's Dirge was only the start, then MVPs and WiH commenced the actual rolling. The rapid-fire releases of new FSPort and WoD secured the pace that had been set.

What's next? Can this onslaught of awesomeness possibly continue? Now that it's in full force, will there be any stopping it?

Well actually, I think WoD is the tail-end of it. At least that's the last thing I knew of that was close to release....

The last few weeks have been like Christmas for the FS community though. Great times!

TVWP Act 3 will be released soon, which will sustain a chain of mediocrity, at the very least.

My reasoning was that it was more related to FSO as a whole, and the site itself than to FreeSpace directly. But it's late and I'm tired and mispelling common words so if you moved it it's fine. I ain't complaining

If I had a good image to use for Wing Commander, I'd add a highlight for the new WCS trailer too, since I don't think many people know about it.

To be honest I think it's too much to have highlights for stuff like trailers and previews.

I thought we did that all the time. Or at least for nearly every single WiH preview and the ED visual filters trailer.

It's an executive decision. If there has been no news for a while that's fine but I don't think trailers should be knocking actual campaigns off of the highlights section. Not if the campaign is brand new at least.

Yeah, in a 'slow news month' it doesn't take a whole lot to get a highlight, but in a month like this you need something special. Some of the stuff I highlighted a few months back when there was nothing else happening would definitely not get highlights right now.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have even considered it, and I would have felt really bad about bumping anything currently in there off the list.  I just felt bad because I didn't stumble upon the trailer until a week after it was posted, and there were only a few posts in the thread.  I guess the fact that we have to be choosy about what goes in the highlights is actually a good thing, though; I used the term "Summer of FreeSpace" in jest, but it's actually working out like that.
