Holy crap! Holy crap! Cyborg rat!

It's a robot controlled by rat neurons. Rats today, terminators tomorrow. :shaking:

That rat's brain must be in a special kind of hell. I wonder why the robot was behaving so erratically and not displaying many rat-like behaviors (like recognizing and running away from movement/people, or not running into objects repeatedly).

From what I've previously heard about this sort of thing, I think it's more akin to a collection of rat neurons grown in a petri dish.

Experiments on humans > experiments on animals. Also, I'm kinda skeptical about this particular video being legit. For all I know that's just a remote controlled hunk of junk.

Nah, this is real. I've seen things like this before in documentaries...

Of course the rat was a living rat in that instance with implants - it was more like a remote-controlled animal.

...For the record, I do find the possible applications of this sort of thing disturbing, depending on the usage of course...

Re: Holy crap! Holy crap! Cyborg rat!
They didn't take the brain out of a rat, they just grabbed a few brain cells out of a rat embryo and grew them in a dish or something. So all the 'brain' has ever known is the input it gets from the robot.

This is awesome.

@redsniper, are you getting this from a specific source, or are you speculating?

The Technocalyps is coming.........
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
