Hello HLP Universe!

Tantalus here. Im going to make this short and sweet.

We really need More FREDers. Currently, we only have one active FREDer (That's me) who's in his first weeks of College which is slowing Mission development to a snails pace  .

Needless to say, A lot of work has gone into this mod and without a larger FREDing team, we will be in for some tough times until my schedule opens back up (which will be in the winter. )


What we need to make headway is two to three more FREDers at minimum. Experience with FRED would be preferred, but if you've got the time & patience to deal with people like  Battuta, Snail, Nighteyes and I pouring over your missions and spraying you with things to fix, we will make a Tier 1 FRED-er out of you yet.


How To Apply

If you are interested,
1. Send me, Nighteyes or Shiv a PM on HLP or GameWarden expressing your interest in joining. Or, hunt down one of the Omegas on IRC. (Check the ED and HLP channel.)
                     (Being an utter nerd, and that i walk around with my laptop a lot, ill get back to you pretty fast  )
 
2. Make a test mission in FRED. Try to show us what you know how to do. We don't care where its from or what its about, just give us a skill gauge. it doesn't need to use every SEXP under the sun. I've seen Great missions with Simple FREDing. And Bad missions with overcomplicated FREDing  (If your from another big mod and already have a mission done for them, just ask the mod leader to vouch for your skill. )

3. Email it to one of us. (if you've been vouched for, no worries about this step). We'll give it a playthrough. I might crack it open and see what SEXPs you used. Remember to tell us about your experience as a FREDer. (If you say your the best thing since sliced bread, we'll expect that from you. If you say your not too experienced, then you'll be evaluated with that in mind.)

So yes. Please apply. We wanna get Act 1 finished and this is our obstacle. The more FREDers the merrier, and on Fridays Shiv gets us free Pizza. Do it for the pizza.

I just wanted to add, the missions that we currently need are terran-vasudan fighting in nature, and most of the mission outlines are written down...

I think you'll be surprised by the stuff that is already completed, this mod is full of surprises

Please join ED, the project has a lot of potential and it'd be a pity to see it die because of the lack of FREDders. It has exclusive music, models and many other features, but is in dire need of missions. If you have experience and would like to join, apply.

Thanks for the support man! but don't worry, ED won't die, that thing at least is for sure, we just want to get act 1 finished and out so people can enjoy all the awesome work we put into this mod
I would say six missions are done, Seven incomplete, three WIP, two to be revised. we need those 5-7 missions that are incomplete done...
*done as in playable from start to finish, but still subject to change

Tantalus has been carrying this campaign single-handedly, and he has a lot of good ideas. I wish I could help out with the heavy lifting too, but I will at least be around for heavy-duty playtesting and help with more advanced stuff like cutscene skips and checkpoints.

I'd like to help, if possible, but I dunno how much time I can commit to it.  Also kinda depends on if the mission I've been floating on the channel counts as a test mission.  Experience-wise, that's the first mission I've made to get to playtest status.

Mainly because I prefer to spend my free time on my writing, and having three projects going already, I don't really have the time to FRED either.

I've toyed with the idea of another 24-hour challenge 5-mission minicampaign a few times but I'm ultimately just not going to find the time for it.

I would say the importent things are done at least, now its small debates on what ship to keep/replace... the main assets are done

Well, we've got close to 500 Views, but only one Application. I know FREDers are scarce, but I'm still hoping to meet our Quota.

If you've got a shortage of FREDders, cut down on the campaign's scale. If there is a story fragment that can be told in one mission instead of three, rewrite the outline.

Also drop any missions that contribute little or nothing to the overall story arc. Attacking a cargo depot with the all-new-and-shiny weapons is well and good, but if the story doesn't require that cargo depot to be destroyed, it's a waste of time - assuming that you still lack the required number of FREDders.

Or just admit that the project will take longer than expected. People will understand it. As long as there's progress being show from time to time, people won't harass you with "ZOMG its dead Jim" posts.

Well, of those options, I'd rather the take our time approach. I unno bout the rest of the guys, but I'm practically joined at the hip with our missions... Cutting one of my brainchildren hurts

well when you think about it tantalus, what we currently have is the very plot cirtical mission, so none of them can go, what we want is fredders to help finish 1 or 2 of the plot critical missions and another 3-5 other mission(that other arc), that frankly, arnt soo importent for the overall storyline, but as you said, there is no rush, were getting in some good progress

Ok, I have been avoiding this kind of thing because I have some other stuff to do, but If you require help and you don't mind waiting I could make 1 mission for you.

Please note I'm in now way an expert fredder, but I guess you can expect some kind of dedication from me, which will eventually lead to a acceptable mission.

If you want previous work, I did the intro cutscene for AG campaign.
That's about it (well actually I made more missions but that's the only thing released so far).

Hey, every mission counts. One good mission done is one less that has to be finished. expect word back from us on Friday. That goes for everyone. Make a GW Account too to save yourself the trouble, if you dont allready have one
