Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.

Who else is fed up with this? Am I the only one who thinks this is very childish?

Yes.

Can't believe I'm explaining this, but: it's used as a way to explain a joke or point out sarcasm without instantly giving it away. You can simply hit 'quote' on the post to read it. When trolling or playing a prank, it's a good way to make it clear that you don't really mean it.

Get used to it, get to love it.

Don't you attempt to obfuscate the truth with false pretenses of humor!  You're skills at dissembling do not work on me, I see through your trickery.  Its quite obvious it's all part of you clever plan to make people squint at their computer screens.  Only the most wicked and perverse villains would perpetrate so vile an act.  But alas you gleeful revel in such foul delights, seeding the entire board with your awful cat's paws!  Admit it you scurrilous knave!

Well, I.... don't know.
I guess sometimes it gets annoying, but only with very small fonts that can't be read directly, I've used the font size option myself in the past so I vote for the third option, also thanks for adding snuffy to the poll.

I use it, but not often. Usually it's some snide comment or off-topic crap. Copy & paste the text into the address bar or search bar. Or stick it into notepad.

I was hoping to see every post use sequentially smaller fontsize.

I was disappointed. :(

Welcomeevery time I thought he was out, they pull him back in! Gave up on getting GenDisc back to a moderated sensible board a while back. Looks like I'll have to give up on this also...

Re: About using tiny text in posts
I happen to agree with Redstreblo here.  Tiny text is okay if it's still readable; you can do tiny text down to about 6pt or so and it'll remain legible.  But any smaller font will force the reader to do the copy & paste trick, which gets really annoying if it happens multiple times in one thread.

Re: About using tiny text in posts
I wondered that myself, and now I'm officially annoyed enough to do something about it.

The bbcode has a built-in "validate" function that allows you to preprocess the parameter before using it.  So all I need to do is create a PHP function to separate the font number from the 'pt' suffix, clamp it to a certain range, and then reassemble it.

Unfortunately I'm too tired at the moment to figure out the PHP I'll need to do it.  In the morning...

You're not a moderator, so for the moment, why don't you give up on trying to be one? GenDisc is the sanest it's ever been in my time here right now. You should have seen the colossal cluster**** it was even two years ago.

If you're not careful, you're going to end up looking like the boy who cried wolf when a real problem comes along.

Hey, I'm not tying to be one. Usually it helps to bring these things to the moderators attention though. I did post a poll and tried to get a general consensus from everybody to see if it was just me. Sometimes a few people get annoyed by it but don't complain about it. When somebody does (me in this case) it prompts discussion which goes to try and make this site a better place to be (not that there is much wrong with it, just little nitpicks like this).

By reading the small text in a post I learned somebody was working on a campaign

I kicked this off  :sigh:

... and I will not justifiy my practice of using small print to include hints on my campaigns into my posts here 'cause this thread obviously has gone off topic and onto a nice sunny island already...

I kept things anonymous and didn't explain how. I'm sure many people are working on a campaign right now. Also your post is not what prompted me to create this thread.

Re: About using tiny text in posts
I thought of adding my 0.02 to it (mainly to do with the way I use tiny text, and even then I rarely use it), but I figured not. If my 3 vote choices mean anything I guess I'll just let said choices do (some of) the talking. :doubt:
