its common knowledge that the Armada 2 AI is totally retarded...  infact, its worse than the simple C&C-ish AI of the first Armada...

The retards will chase an enemy halfway across the freaking map and keep with it, even if its under fire, all while you were doing other things...
One minute your off directing an attack, the next youre dead because all of your defensive ships are hunting down a scout, giving the enemy his way with your base...

We'll i thought the AI was smart, we will play around with it fix i right!....DH made some new ships physics odf code files for the 1 capital,  several fighters and bombers we have.. He used the actual tbl files but divided by 3 on hitpoints and weapon effects...we'll mulitply em later but its still scale... anyway they handle alot slower than the startrek ships (Iceni) and the fighters handle a lot faster (it looks real too)  On easy AI the enemy startrek ships kill over because the TSlash is way more powerful than the phasers in the game... But on Hard AI they startrek ships simply beam in assault crews or assimilate the GTVA cap ships and then use them against you....hehe its kinda funny

There's a nice simple way to stop this:
Click on the brain and put there movement autonomy down to green.

The easy way to win Armada is to build loads of dil-refs, then loads of turrets, then 3 advanced shipyards, then a ****load of your biggest ship and some that fire Tri-Cobalts, leave the tri-cob ships near yer base and march yer big ships towards the enemy base in a full out attack against their starbase.

In Multi-player, just be the cardassians and build about 12 dreadnought silos. Those things ****in 0wn.

Oh really now? I take it you like having your defenses blown to bits by your artillery. Those ships are meant for assaults against static targets such as turrets. Theyre able to hammer away at them without getting in range of its weapons...

Yeah, and while the enemy ships are near the turrets pummeling them, the tri-cobs are beating the **** out of them five ships at a time.

I take it you use just turrets for defense? Try throwing a station up for defense.. works great...

I usually play maps where there's an asteroid field around yer base and only one or two ways through, and I usually play Cardassian. I pack the entrances with all manner of turrets, build a couple of Dreadnought silos and some Keldons, nuke the **** out of the enemy starbases, shipyards and construction ships with the Dreadnoughts and then send in the Keldons to mop up any stray ships. Quite effective, although the sudden formation of 12 spacial rifts does kinda kill my graphics card.

good news about multiplayer in this....
I wonder what race will be best for this mod? Terrans, Vasudans, Shivans, Ancients,??? i plan to create a 24/7 chat room for the mod entitled lobby 20....here are some multiplayer ideas

 Fleet Wars...8 players command a fleet of 16 ships each to the death....all races included

 Squad Wars...2 players command wings of 4 melee craft and a shipyard with no extra officers and no new build ability...this alows them to respawn craft say 8 times....

 NWTR... Just like Fleetwars wih  8 players but with figters..

 Rebel Intercept... Use melee craft to assault a NTF Convoy

Heh, the way to really kick rear is basically wall up with turrets and starbases around your vital areas, expand them onto one of the neutral moons for the extra resources.

Now with that done get two regular shipyards and two or three advanced shipyards.

Build nothing but warbirds/soverigns/cubes/whatever.
Now, while those are building begin constructing spheres/akiras/any phaser type small ships.  But not the defiant or forward-fire-only ships.

Now, assign the super ships into fleets with the alt+# function.  Get about 5 fleets together.  

And for the big kicker, take all the smaller ships you've built, assign three to defend each of the larger super ships.

So now you have five fleets of upwards of 32 ships (Armada 1) or about double that for armada 2.

You want system slowdown?  Hehe, take all the main fleets and have them move past the initial areas towards a starbase.  Pure lovely fire-filled space. :)

Please note this doesn't work if you have to go through wormholes.  For some reason ships told to defend other ships 'forget' their orders once they make it through to the other side.


Oh, and can someone tell me, in Armada 2, can you build Galaxy Class ships?  They're in Armada 1, fires phasers and torpedoes at the rate of a sovereign, but don't have any special weapons.

Yes you can.
Soverigns, Aegians, Galaxys and Nebulas can all be built at the advanced shipyard. What I like to do as the Borg, build 9 cubes and "merge" them. Massive cube with a ton of weapons. Its slow as hell, but two of them can take down a medium sized base.

You need a add-on for one of the later stations.. Assimilator methinks. Collective Hub I think its called, then you can merge normal or tactical cubes to make Fusion cubes. Theyre big, on some maps you have to merge em outside your base, or they cant get out...

/me pokes Armada II
I think I screwed it up..
I converted the Deimos, set up the ODF file, and now whenever I try to load the game I get an "Out of Memory" error :doubt:

DId you forget to delete the Lod's from TS??  the submodel parts that arent necessary??  i think the max poly limit is around 900 for all sta2 ships...maybe its an ODF problem, if you want, send me the model ill see what i can do
