It's November 2nd and that means all the politicking and campaigning is going to pay off (or not.) So what are you voting on?

In California marijuana legalization is finally on the ballot. I'm voting YES.

One of my better friends keeps claiming he's going to move to California the instant it passes.

I can't tell if he's joking or not.

I wrote in Cthulu for MSU board of trustees.

And I split ticket nearly everything else just to bug the politicians.  :nervous:

Unless there's somewhere to vote on campus, I think I'm just going to skip this one. What's it matter anyway, I don't know anything about any of the politicians, so I would just go through and mark anyone without an R (or D if possible) next to their name.

I just hope Rand Paul loses.

No more fraking political ads, no more gods damn junk mail.

For 6 months, anyway.

I just tried desperately to make the best possible decisions based on my limited knowledge, with little confidence that I managed to do so. I hate elections.  :doubt:

They're not far apart at all. Our choices typically range from rabid conservative lunatic to conservative who really, really wishes he was a moderate.

I had to vote on a lot of civil rights and social issues.  We can't be America if we don't even give gays equal rights!  Land of the ****ing free, *****es.

Let me correct myself.

I just hope every single Tea Party candidate loses.

As most of you know, historically the president’s party loses House seats during the first midterm after a presidential election.  The average loss across the seven first-term midterm elections in the period 1946-2006 in the House has been 17 seats (and slightly more than 1 seat in the Senate.)  The only exception to this rule since 1946 occurred in 2002, when the Republicans actually gained House seats. Most analysts believe this gain was largely due to the ability of George Bush and Republican candidates to nationalize the election by running on a national security platform in the aftermath of 9-11- an exceptional event.(Note that across all 16 midterms in the post-World War II period, the president’s party lost, on average, 24 House seats and 3.5 Senate seats.)

Did my part several days early.

Voted to keep my current national politicians in office because they are awesome.  One of them's gay and before going political ran a business that repaired computers and gave them to school kids in 3rd world countries, and the other is pretty much the straightest talking man in DC at this moment, who also is the architect of reconciliation.  Both are democrat.

Local elections... pretty much voted on party lines because a.) no one to oppose, and b.) everyone who thought they could was bat**** crazy.  Votes for judges... figured that since these peeps had the decency to have a session of the Supreme Court of Colorado in my high school auditorium, they must be pretty cool.  Plus, no scandals, so hey.  Only really confusing thing was the race for coroner.  Both candidates were unaffiliated.  One young, one old.  Went with young person to spice things up a bit.

So... all in all, first ever vote went pretty well.

Rand Paul won.

****ing ****.

Local:
Incumbent judge executive won. He's currently on appeal in a vote-buying case.
