Bit of a random topic. . But I approve highly.
Two pics dear to my heart are here and here. No reason other than I've done the same countless times. Even the Fallout looking one with a jerry can. Every Squaddie knows how to make **** tea lol.

The RN never really recovered from letting Beattie get off for screwing the pooch at Jutland.

I don't understand why you folks never museum your warships.  The States has a fleet of museums from age of sail to aircraft carriers.  I mean ****, you didn't even preserve the HMS Dreadnought.   :P

The USS Hornet is a museum ship and it was pretty cool being there during my trip to the westcoast

I know. What a ****ing disgrace. Whichever wanker approved it should be shot several times and dragged underneath the keel of that vessel until the Royal Navy places its entire ORBAT as a bid for the item.

Re: British Armed Services pictures
wat.  :wtf:

A decommissioned ship needs to be disposed off. In the absence of plans to keep it around as a museum, selling for scrap is a valid option. No "disgrace" about it.

Re: British Armed Services pictures
It's a shame they're scrapping these carriers which have been far more useful than the Trident program, and still had a few years left in them until the QE carriers arrived (from how I see it all the way in Australia anyway).

In most cases that is true, but the Dreadnaught was special because it single handedly started a major historical trend in ship design.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

I agree. Though the US screwed up by scrapping the CV-6 big E.. which got as close to possible to match the term "hero ship".
