Overview:
The TESW Enjeestis is the most powerful craft ever encountered by the Terran or Vasudan species. Its crew are Terran, but claim to be from 4000 years in the future. However, despite their apparent kinship with our race, they are not our allies. They represent a group known as the Terran Empire, which extends far beyond our home galaxy, and claims to have exterminated the Vasudan and Shivan races. They consider us to be primitives unworthy of rights or consideration.
Physical Characteristics:
The Enjeestis is over 25 kilometers long, and reflects a design aesthetic only vaguely similar to current Terran starship design. It can best be described as a lumpy bubble, with no angular parts jutting out, instead all of its surfaces are smooth and it has a strange elegance. It has no identifiable engines or other subsystems, at least none that are analogous to anything we understand.
Name:
The name Enjeestis is foreign to us, and we have found no likely precedent in all of our cultural records. It is likely that it refers to a person, place, event, or entity which has not yet occurred or been discovered. A leading theory, however, states that it may be a distortion of the name "NGC 362", a globular star cluster outside of our galaxy, which is also perhaps where this craft was constructed.
Propulsion:
As previously noted, the Enjeestis has no identifiable engines, and instead seems to utilize some sort of reactionless sublight drive, allowing it to accelerate to speeds greater than 0.99c near-instantly and stop in less than a nanosecond. It is also capable of making subspace jumps without the use of jump nodes, as it has been seen jumping directly from Altair to Delta Serpentis without any stops in - between, in addition its points of departure and arrival were nowhere near any charted nodes. The Enjeestis is also capable of a type of short - range teleportation, instantly displacing itself over distances of up to several light-minutes. Sensor readings of this phenomenon have detected no subspace activity whatsoever, so how it accomplishes this is completely beyond us.
Defenses:
The Enjeestis is protected by a sheath shielding system which is conceptually similar to the shields on the Shivan Lucifer-class superdestroyer. However, unlike the Lucifer's shield, the Enjeestis's shield renders it completely immune to every weapon in our arsenal, including our most powerful beam weapons. In addition, the shield is also capable of functioning in subspace. If we were to find some way of disabling this shield, the hull would likely pose a problem, as it appears to be made out of completely unknown material that cannot even be classified as normal matter. All attempted sensor scans of the Enjeestis have failed due to some sort of jamming, so this information has been obtained via the old method of mass spectroscopy and observations of gravitational interactions. At one point, the Enjeestis was observed to fly through the core of a star and emerge on the other side without sustaining any damage.
Weapons:
The weapon systems of the Enjeestis are unlike anything we have previously encountered. Instead of firing matter projectiles or energy discharges, it is somehow capable of remotely causing targets to simply explode via an unknown method. Sensors have detected a slight, almost imperceptible quantum fluctuation during the activation of this weapon, but that is our only clue as to its operation, leaving our best scientists completely baffled. These weapons are capable of affecting up to hundreds of targets at once from ranges as great as across a star system. They are also capable of precision strikes, such as disabling individual turrets or subsystems. This weapon is not infinitely powerful, however, as observations indicate that while it may only take seconds to eliminate a destroyer-class vessel, much larger installations take longer to be completely destroyed. Still, no target has ever been able to resist this weapon for longer than 15 seconds. The crew of the Enjeestis claims that this weapon, which they refer to as a "remote manipulator", is not even military - grade equipment, and more akin to a civilian tool. They have stated that the Enjeestis contains far more powerful weaponry, with the capability of annihilating entire star systems, but they have no need to waste such firepower on primitives like us. The analogy they used was "nuking an anthill".
Other Capabilities:
The Enjeestis is capable of remotely hacking and taking control of any of our computer systems, no matter what level of encryption we use. Even completely isolated systems with no input or output can be hacked this way, and have all of their data downloaded or rewritten. Attempts to send computer viruses and other invasive programs to the Enjeestis this way have all failed. In effect, the Enjeestis is capable of taking command of any of our ships or installations at will. The Enjeestis has also been observed to use its remote manipulator to repair damaged ships, but only minor damage can be repaired this way. It has never deployed any support craft, but visual inspections have identified what might be docking bays.
Purpose:
The crew of the Enjeestis has claimed their purpose in our timeframe is to hunt down and apprehend a group of criminals who have escaped to the past. These criminals also apparently possess advanced technology, making locating and detaining them not a simple matter. The Enjeestis has caused over 400 million Vasudan casualties in its mission so far, but only around 2.5 million Terran casualties.
Contingencies:
Engaging the Enjeestis in direct combat is suicide. A Terran fighter pilot who escaped the battle of Laramis, in which the 4th, 6th, and 7th Vasudan battlegroups were utterly annihilated, described the slaughter as "chimps with rocks and sticks trying to fight a tank". We have only one advantage in this battle: The fact that they are us. As they are our descendants, causing too many Terran casualties would jeopardize their own existence. Admiral Marcoh, commander of the 14th Terran Battlegroup, took advantage of this by calling the Enjeestis' bluff to destroy the planet of Alphard VII, a densely populated Terran colony, which they suspected to be housing the escaped criminals. The Enjeestis retreated, but not before destroying the admiral's flagship in a gesture of spite.
