Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
As some of you know I did an update on the nice GVF Shu model via textures and files. It seems to be well received and I do hope many have enjoyed the work I did as much as it was fun to do. I recently downloaded the latest installment on the FreeSpace game and must say you guys have done an awesome job as it was really nice to see lots updated. I even flew the GVF Shu again and while doing so felt it was needed some current modeling updating and perhaps some design changes such as the following:
My idea would be to keep the basic shape, three fins identical for interchangeable purposes. These fins would house one small reactor/engine combination with two guns like the one I did for a total of 6 guns for this fighter. However, I would add a more in scale and much more detailed design to better fit the fin. Some greebling would be done here as well.
The Pilot's cockpit shape nearly the same with minor detail changes. Canopy would possibly change to be more interesting and/or better looking to fit the new changes. Just behind the Cockpit, I would add in two scoops, one in top and one on the bottom. they would have greebling to represent fine fins inside the scoops and possible Reactor glow. Keep the current crescent reactor glow as it seems to be a trait for this, but also can be changed and/or deleted.
The central body would see the biggest change as I want the two scoops mentioned earlier to blend into the body which will house the central main reactor/engine. a simple, but nice main engine nozzle would complete the basic shape. Possibly having the main ending baffled somehow. Just an idea. The biggest change I would add is I want a bulged shape on each side that will blend with the main body and the scoops as well. This will house the missile banks for the fighter.
Yes I do not have any sketches currently but this image of the re-textured GVF Shu should somewhat help.
Now comes the hard part. I'm just a Texture, not a modeler and YES I know you guys are always busy. I am not asking anyone to take up this for me while you got other projects to do. I merely am asking for comments and suggestions about my detail and design idea for this new GVF Shu which I want to call it GVF Shu Mk V standard.
If anyone wants to work a concept up for a Mk V, then be my guest, more power to you. But i'll be happy to work with anyone if they wish. But again I'm just asking for input on my ideas for this fighter.
