Find the latest PCS2 in Spicious's sig and just save as .dae.  Any program with collada .dae support should be able to import it.

Broken link confirmed.

Spicious link http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~samm/pcs2.7z
you might also need this http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~samm/dlls.7z also out of Spicious sig

importing from pof to blender is as simple as
open pof in PCS2
File ->save ->
enter the filename you want to use
select dae from the drop menu below the filename line
hit save
open blender
file -> import -> collada 1.4
find the file and hit open
done

there is an issue where it will create blank scenes on import; you can (and are better off doing so) deleting these, opening a view in outliner mode will make this easier.

Blender to pof
make sure your Lods are called detail# (where # replace with 0,1,2,etc) and that all subobjects are parented to the correct lod, using capitals has cause problems for me in the past)
file-> export -> collada 1.4
set your save path and file name
set these options; Triangles, Disable physics, Use UV Image Mats
export or export and close
open in PCS2
setup your special points, turrets etc
file -> save
find the model's folder for your mod
enter the model name (i think PCS2 defaults to Pof but check to be safe)
hit the save button

all that leaves is tabling up your ship/weapon

ok downloaded both the exe and the dlls and put them in my POF folder but I still can't save as a .dae file. I can save as .pof .pmf and .cob no .dae what should I do?

OK so you have PCS2 installed where?  C:\program files\pofcs203?  Are the .dll files in that same directory?  When opening a pof or .dae are you sure it's the right version of PCS2?  Try right clicking and browsing to the exe.

Yes they do.  Google search for "Python 2.6.2" (without the quotes) and you'll find it.

Any 2.6 version of python is good. I got it to work with 2.6.6.
People are stupid, therefore anything popular is at best suspicious.

Now, why hasn't anyone made a POF import/export script for Blender yet?  It's Python--it can't be that hard to write, especially with so much documentation on the file format.

While it is an annoyance to go through an intermediary format, it isn't the end of the world, and certainly to 2.49 i have not had an issue with it.
