http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/special-reports/brisbane-ipswich-prepare-for-major-floods/story-fn7kabp3-1225985950662While the predicted peak for the Brisbane River at 4am (AEST) tomorrow has been revised down from 5.5 metres to 5.2 metres, Ms Bligh warned the flooding would cripple the city with 20,000 to 30,000 people affected.
The river peaked at 5.45 metres in the devastating 1974 floods.
"Brisbane will go to sleep tonight and wake up to scenes that many of them have never seen anything like in their lives," Ms Bligh said.
"This is still a major event, the city is much bigger, much more populated and has many parts under flood that didn't even exist in 1974.
"We are still looking at an event which will cripple parts of our city."
Terrible, terrible stuff. And, unfortunately, it's not just Queensland - New South Wales has had flooding as well, and Victoria may get some too. Yesterday where I live, we actually got the SMS telling us to get out. Fortunately, our house wasn't affected, but other people in the area weren't so lucky.

It's rather worrying, still, though - the future in any of the affected areas is still uncertain outside of the predictions.
To all the other Australian HLPers, I hope that if you're in one of the affected areas, or at risk at being affected, that you stay safe.
