Possible? I played with nvidia-settings but I couldn't get it to work.

At least in 3.6.11 it works by just clicking the "override application settings" in NV-settings.

Is this for FSO? If you use post processing in FSO, bloom will be enabled by default and AA won't work, at least that's how it works in windows. You can quickly test AA settings using "glxgears" in terminal.

I used have an Nvidia card but not anymore, when I did I used "nvidia-settings --load-config-only" in terminal to reload the settings without launching the control panel.  See if that works.
Also, using root access with the control panel was tricky, I think I only needed it to change the resolution but not the other settings.

Yeah I have post processing, that must be it. We need AA support in the engine already.

AA will mix with Post_Processing on nVidia cards.
It just wont be to the SAME level as AA without the Post Processing.
It also depends on the setting used. Under windows, I have set to "Enhance Application Settings", 16Q with Supersampling and Gamma/Transparency on.
