I don't think it's so deeply buried in the personal phsyche as people think in my opinion, a lot of what holds people back from breaking their own ethics is the fear of external reaction, not internal guilt.

People don't have their own core values, anyone who thinks they do are dellusional, mine are fairly unique in that I borrow from a lot of places, but even then, I BORROW FROM A LOT OF PLACES.

Depends on how defensive they get, I guess. The point of this assignment is look at how fights that start small escalate quickly when you attack someone's core values. If they just ignore you, it doesn't count.

I think internal guilt+fear of external reaction covers just a part of the motivation though. As in breaking your own ethics can be as painful, as it is painful to see something dear to you being destroyed.
