Post Processing Bloom Behavior
So granted with the computer I first started using half a year ago everything ran without any problems at all. Then I get my hard drive failure and have to get it fixed, so I get that taken care of and have it restored to the exact same state it was when I first bought it.

But oh wait! Now bloom acts funny and shows up as lines at certain angles, which it didn't do before!

It might be a little difficult to see, but I set the screen so the bloom lines would be slightly diagonal to make the fact that it is doing this obvious.
It also happens on ship hulls, simply put anything affected by bloom.

Took the most current files from the forum, have the most up-to-date drivers, have very modern hardware.

Any driver forced AA? Might be doing it. I'm working out issues with the Nebula and Beams regarding that. Seemsto affects Blue and Green beams the worst, most especially AA

I have AA set to user-secified settings.

Re: Post Processing Bloom Behavior

Hmmm. K. I'll look into it, but I can't seem to reproduce it on my end, though I have seen that before.

What video card are you running? For my nVidia's, I set to "Enhance Application" and 16Q (because 32x.....really? A waste) and I'm assuming that if you are getting AA with post_processing, then you are probably not on an ATi card. And if you are, don't let Fury know.

I'm having these artifacts, too. First recognized them on a Fenris firing its primary beamweapon.

It's a 5870, but as I said it wasn't doing this the first time I started using the computer, and it was reinstalled to the exact settings as I had it built.

Re: Post Processing Bloom Behavior
I get the same effect on a Nvidia 6600 gt with these settings
-ambient_factor 120 -no_emissive_light -fov 1.0 -ogl_spec 75 -height -normal -spec_exp 11 -spec_point 2.0 -post_process -bloom_intensity 80

but I just noticed that it is only visible with my in game brightness set above 1.

Wanted to bump this in case my edit wasn't caught, last post had a quote error, so now you can see what my post actually is, if the card model holds any relevance to the problem.

Re: Post Processing Bloom Behavior
Tried putting an older shader into the game with atioglxx.dll with no effect.
