The point is, it's not a proper render. I did it in less than 5 minutes: didn't even put a bump map on it. Just a plain turbulence fractal. That would explain the only passing resemblance to sand :p
The whole of the picture is one big internal joke. If you don't get it, don't worry - you are probably better off not knowing...

Oh, and all the people who can't view it: Copy+Paste the address into a new window. The server I use is (almost) as bad as Geocities...

Glad I could make you all laugh, anyway :)
