Inception review - AKA joining the bandwagon a bit late
Hey there guys, I just watched Inception and I had no one to discuss it with, so... I wrote an opinion/review of it.

Well of course, it was bound to be a bit of a letdown if you go into it this late.

It was an amazing movie, but movies of that genre are *always* over-hyped

Err... what is the reason for that? I watched Memento 10 years after its release

But that is exactly why I don't understand your remark... Memento had the same sort of hype as well, at least the hype I've experienced was roughly in the same ballpark.

Most of the population will over-sell anything that they like. If you watch a movie after hearing everyone's over-exaggerated praise of it, it's bound to be a disappointment.

Nice review; and I totally agree that it might have been much better if they made two movies, one specializing in dream experiments, and a sequel where they pull it all together to perform the Inception.

My biggest disappointment from Inception was that, for a movie that was all about being dreamlike, it did not feel dreamlike at all -- with the exception of the first 20 minutes or so, which I thought were fantastic.

I do applaud the film for attempting something extremely new and daring, but sadly I don't think it succeeded as well as it could have.  Much of the acting fell flat, several scenes that had been foreshadowed once or more beforehand lacked punch when they finally happened, and the constant reminders of what was going on in each level of the dream became overly tedious.  For having a selling point of being "a thinking man's movie", I felt like I was being spoon-fed far too much and was left little to ponder at the end aside from the obvious and mostly un-answerable question of

is Cobbs back in reality or stuck in limbo?

Lucicka, might I suggest giving Primer a try?  If you're into "realistic" sci-fi, an intelligently-crafted puzzle of a plotline, and excellent acting, then I don't think there's much out there that can top it. :)

Mhh interesting review.

I disagree on the conclusion tho.

I definitely would not want to see it split into two movies. Two parts would  be less than the whole in this case - at least imho;)

Likely the the "Mal-piece" would have its lenghts while the "action-piece" would be lacking substance.

I like the idea but sadly I rarely give myself enough free time to watch a movie. But I will, when I'll be able to. :)
