ok, i downloaded freespace open for mac, and in the mediaVPs_3612 theres files with just a regular name e.g "MV_animglows" and files with different names e.g. "MV_animglows.3612". are these files different? do i need to install both types for it to work properly? also, when i run a mod, like blueplanet, with vps, it will usually crash, particularly around shivan fighters, mostly aeshemas and dragons. i tried running it with MV_root, but its so laggy the game wont even load, but with MV_root.3612 the game runs fine, exept the vasdan hapsursut class destroyer wont show up, it just laggs until crashing if that ships even in the level. any help? i would love to run blueplanet but its kind of hard when you cant get within two clicks of shivan ships  :banghead: , my computer is a macintosh G5 10.5 non intel based.

The .3612 files are patches, you should keep both them and the regular versions (so you should have both MV_animglows and MV_animglows.3612).

Let's see if we can help out with your other problems. Please generate a debug log as described in the Troubleshooting FAQ pinned here on the Support forum, then post it up for us to read.

Hrm, that doesn't look like the whole log. Could you copy the whole file into a pastebin at pastebin.com, then link it here? We need to see the beginning in particular.

Well, for starters, I don't see the MVPs being loaded in that log - if you generate a log with the MVPs selected as your mod it'll give us more of an idea of what's going on.

But I do see one problem - please use the launcher to change your color depth from 16 bit to 32 bit. Does that help at all?

 
how would i do that? i have soulstorms osx launcher

wait i got it, nevermind

no, it crashed when i engaged the aeshamas. the last log i ran was the game running blueplanet with the files in a folder and the media vps in the same folder.

No, it wasn't - your last log showed an empty command line, so no mods were loaded (including the MVPs.) Generate another log with the above conditions and post it - just select the debug build in the launcher, select BP as a mod, and run.

 
sorry a response took so long, i had been trying to make freespace work on my windows, but i gave up and trashed the game. so im back on my mac, now my debug log problem, i cant find the log, its not located anywhere, i searched the entire hard drive
