Hey everyone. I believe the call in China is the same one that is rippling through the Middle East.
From an e-mail I sent to a friend;
"In China today, they attempted to stamp out a call for a "Jasmine Revolution";
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110220/ap_on_re_as/as_china_jasmine_revolutionOn a U.S. based Chinese advocacy site (
http://www.boxun.com/), I found a quote that, even roughly translated, said that the term Jasmine had been blocked in search engines.
However, going to Youtube and typing, without the quotes, "Jasmine Revolution", the first hits I've seen were for "Jasmine Revolution Tunisia". Interesting. Clicking that links to several videos, including one where a rather over-dramatic individual with no credentials leads credence into the idea of a multi-national movement."
Upon looking up Jasmine on Wikipedia, I also found that it is the national flower of Tunisia.
EDIT: Ah bugger, looks like the NYT got it after I did -_-
