Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
I'm still not convinced that's totally how it works. It's a valid interpretation, true, but I'm holding out for the non-conspiracy storyline because government conspiracies make me want to kill kittens.

I doubt it's a government conspiracy. It seems more like Crynet may be responsible.

Private conspiracies are like government conspiracies when we're up to this scale, except I want to kill puppies instead. :P

Deus Ex is special. And, at the time, was fairly original. Now with the truthers running about I just can't take another improbable conspiracy of conspiring conspirators who conspire.

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
First is totally prerender quality and the actual game isn't going to look like that on any computer. It may not even be actual SP. The second appears to be real.

Wait what, a lot of that is straight gameplay.

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
All of it is prerendered.  How else would they get that framerate?

However, it's prerendered in-game.  You can do that.

The first one, the Prophet trailer? No. There's no HUD, no first-person shots, most of the views of the nanosuit are taken from the side or the front. That's not gameplay. The second one is mostly gameplay.

There's no HUD and views of the nanosuit from the side or front all over the place in Crysis Warhead gameplay. A lot of that is straight from Crysis 1, either literally a direct rip or plausibly just with the camera detached on a nicely choreographed scene.

You also said prerender quality when a bunch of that is (again) straight Crysis 1, and a lot of the Crysis 2 stuff could definitely be done in-engine. Maybe framebuffered though, but other than that it totally could look that way on your computer (well a good deal of it could; all the shots of faces during dialogue for instance.)

I never denied that there was anything from Crysis 1 being reused for continuity purposes. There are a few straight gameplay shots from the first game, but very few. A lot of the flashback material is too polished in terms of lighting, or the fact you never saw Prophet with his helmet all the way off in the first Crysis or in Warhead, or he was never dramatically backlit on the carrier, or the C-17 interior looks a lot nicer, etc.

I played Warhead too. You got a point? You saw other nanosuits. You didn't follow their movements that smoothly, and you had a weapon or a fist visible.

There's also the bit about how the second trailer shows actual gameplay and the first one doesn't look remotely like it. Maybe it's rendered with the ingame engine, maybe, but it's not gameplay.

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
NGTM is probably right. Many of those shots don't quite look like CryEngine2. Especially shots with particle effects.

What I sort of suspect is that they remade all those scenes in CryEngine3, and just reused all the animations, positioning, etc. Maybe they imported the entire levels in to some degree. (They must have done something similar for the cryengine3 cross-platform video that takes place on the map 'island', because there's no way a game dev sat down and remade every bush and pebble from scratch there.)

Could be, but I would totally buy the conversation shots as ingame.

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
I watched these and some other videos, I think the only things that bother me are...

1) The grenades aren't really 'instant throw' anymore?
2) O NOES what protection scheme will they use?
3) The art book isn't part of any regular editions... Don't need no bag and figure (well a bag is a nice side for something usable), but :banghead: at the price of that box set and it's only pre-order and out of stock?

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
You guys should check out the actual gameplay footage if you haven't already. It doesn't look half-bad on console, and it'll definitely look better and run better on PC.

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
I have a few friends on another site who got in on the leak, and according to them it plays much like Warhead. It isn't quite as open world as the first game, but it isn't as linear many people are worried either, or so I'm told. I never got in on the leak.

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
But then again, it was going that way since Warhead. Which was awesome by the way.

Warhead was much more tightly plotted and polished then Crysis, and it still offered a good degree of alternate methods. This does not appear to.

But I did see quite a lot of alternative methods in the gameplay footage. Spefficly, two video's of the devs taking down the same boss (in the train station) using enterily different methods/

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
i'm not sure i like the aliens being humaniod now.  nor the protagonist switch.  i'd have liked to see it continue nomad's story.  unless they put ALL the weapons in the trailers, variety looks like it will be good.  i'm not too afraid of linear play, crytek hasn't disappointed on that front yet. (although they haven't done a console yet either, hopefully that won't factor in)

Re: Crysis 2 singleplayer trailers
Nomad was an excellent filler voice.

"I'm okay, but my HUD's strambled."
"Roger that."
"Strickland, I'm on my way."
"Negative, no survivors."
"STRICKLAND!!11!"
"How'd I do?"

I think the only useful things he ever says are when he goes into the 'core' map, when he tells you that it's very cold in there.
