Dies Irae (Day of Judgement/Wrath) from Mozart's Requiem Mass in D Minor
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vl7NjsHt90

EDIT: I mean...even the LYRICS are badass.

So many to choose from!

Just about anything by Jeremy Soule.
Rebel Camp

I love me some of Murray Gold's Dr Who too:
All the strange, strange creatures   <-- Why yes, I have designed a Freespace mission for this one. Someday I may even release it.
UNIT  <!-- And this is it's briefing music.

I'm also a fan of the music from Aquaria:
Arnassi
Undiscovered Waters

And Mechwarrior II is always great, here's one of my favorites (among many, the whole soundtrack oozes awesome):
Soundtrack - 08

Well, might as well mention certain stuff by Johan Sibelius:

Finlandia, Op. 26 - a symphonic poem from year 1899. I'm not too big on nationalism as an ideology, but damn if it didn't produce a lot of awesome music.
Swan of Tuonela. A bit more sedate piece but... well. Go and listen to it. I'd qualify it as "epic" all right.
There are three things that last forever: Abort, Retry, Fail - and the greatest of these is Fail.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj9w-0H9s-o - G-Nome Track 9 - from an old video game from 1996. came with the Packard Bell win95 box we bought in 1998.

Also, second anything, ANYTHING from the mechwarrior 2 soundtrack. That soundtrack was great.

Samuel Barber - Adagio For Strings "I love this place at night. The stars... there's no right or wrong in them. They're just there. "

TA OST  - Forest Green
“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world”

All good stuff here so far.  I'm rather fond of James Horner's work on the Star Trek scores but if I had to pick one piece from the two films it would have to be Stealing the Enterprise. (For the sake of all that is good play it on some decent speakers and play it loud!)
Find me as Hojo Norem elsewhere...

butter_pat_head... a name picked in sheer desperation more than 10 years ago from some super obscure Red Dwarf reference.

Well this will all take a long time to listen through. :p

My own contribution is the start of Dvorak's New World Symphony, 4th Movement.  I was exposed to it by the anime series One Piece, of all things, but it's freakin' awesome.

"Get off my forum" -General Battuta
I can't help but hear a shotgun cocking with this.

So many I haven't heard. Here are two that just came to mind just now.

X-Ray Dog - The Prophet

Track from level 1 of The Hive, released in 1995. It gets really good from 2:22 onwards, and unfortunately the intro and sound effects play over the music but other than that it can be heard very clearly. Apparently the other tracks from this game are pretty good too. I think the rest of them can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0CB_1Tcxzc

EDIT: Speaking of game music: Christopher Franke - Babylon 5 Into the Fire Promo CD - Battle Themes 4

I can't hear that song without thinking of Homeworld and getting sorta sad. :(
[22:29] <sigtau> Hello, #hard-light?  I'm trying to tell a girl she looks really good for someone who doesn't exercise.  How do I word that non-offensively?
[22:29] <RangerKarl|AtWork> "you look like a big tasty muffin"

<batwota> wouldn’t that mean that it’s prepared to kiss your ass if you flank it :p

If you don't mind the chorus, Jesper Kyd - Freedom Fighters Main Title.
From the same soundtrack, Nightfall.

And from the overplayed but still epic files: Immediate Music - Preliator
And Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna

Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Shostakovich - Symphonies 5, 7 and 10
Mahler - Symphonies 5, 6, 8

Stravinsky - Firebird (or solo piano)
Verdi - Requiem
Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade
Tchaikovsky - Capccio Italien, Francesca da Rimini, Symphonies 4, 5, 6

This is slightly cheating but:
Schubert - Death and the Maiden

As a classical music snob, I am appalled that this thread has to exist.

However, I am even more appalled that those who posted movements from Holst's The Planets missed "Uranus, the Magician:" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6_3EeCKjNw

Just be happy nobody said Mars Bringer of War was ripping off John Williams.  :p
