Re: Gamersbook & HardLight Productions Community
Honestly, no thanks. I hate Facebook and I don't want another system whose express goal is to make me find me a job. What's the fun in that? That's basically just like all the crappy parts in life (go to a crap school for 12 years, go to an overbearing college for 4 years, stress about a job, get one, and work until you die), except now it contains my entire social life.

I'm not into games just to find a job, and I'm not into life just to find a job in "the industry", either.

I'll pass, seriously.

As for the Volition article, why might it weigh heavily on us? For all we know he's splitting off and is going to try and make a spiritual successor to the Freespace series. That sounds like a good idea to me. In fact I might just e-mail him and suggest it and ask if he wants any help.

That's why I don't need a giant omni-website to help me get a job, because I'm perfectly capable of coming up with good ideas, just like everyone I know. Also, because everyone else I know is capable of coming up with good ideas, then why should I not also believe they're perfectly capable of following through with them on their own, or at least be willing to hop on board with someone else and try some ideas together?

EDIT: All that being said, I'm looking through the forum right now to give you folks a chance. It really is the name and that bit about tying together some of my online gaming life into my real world 9-5 "job life".

Yeah it may not be for everyone, but I think a Linked In type of site geared towards gamers could be pretty cool.

Eh, ok, my previous point was a bit extreme.

It looks like it might have more success as a DA for game developers, maybe?

I'm going to pass for now, but cheers and good luck. :)

Well thank you alot for giving us a chance. It is not Facebook style of website, in fact its turned towards game developers and gamers to make people connect as gamers and help game developers produce better products (games&mods) together. As we support big companys, we also are supporting indie studios and as such we really don't want to go in way to expose people but in fact to expose this industry as a culture.

Thanks one more time for giving us a chance !

Re: Gamersbook & HardLight Productions Community
Think more towards indie, rather than "jobs". When I think "jobs" I'm thinking oh joy, I get to go work for EA and crank out Madden 2012 and deal with awkward corporate meetings and "leadership seminars".

Build up connections with sites like Hard Light and ModDB - honestly your layout reminds me of gog.com, so that's kind of cool. It might be neat to have a repository or collection point for old game mods in addition to old games.

Also, re read my previous post, I edited it. :)

Re: Gamersbook & HardLight Productions Community
Checked the site, doesnt seem to be connected to Facebook or such, so it doesn't seem like it's part of it ;)

I think it can do some good for Hard-Light, but it just depends on how things work out. We'll see.
I'm all about getting the most out of games, so whenever I discover something very strange or push the limits, I upload them here:

Well still, any kind of feedback is welcome and as long we are able to fix stuff add things that you or community would find interesting, we will do it. Also to add, jobs are just one of the many features that Gamersbook offers. The site is not job-application oriented but in fact is oriented to the gaming industry to teach people about the games, remind people of all the old school stuff and follow the industry trends !

UT, you're talking about this whole "finding jobs" thing as if it was the centre of the whole thing and as if you were suddenly unable to say no to a job offer.

That sounds pretty cool, it'd be neat to have a community that really keeps older games alive. I know I've wanted to play some multiplayer games of Independence War 2, but the multi and modding scenes are long gone.  It'd be cool to have a website that focuses on preserving older games?

Re: Gamersbook & HardLight Productions Community
We are interested to keep alive everything that was named a game in history, either it is super mario on gameboy color or Gears of War 3 :) . We are looking for people that will become members of community, that will be active and that will introduce community with blogs about those old games, create groups about those old games and help us create those old games profile pages / developer and publisher pages !

Well cool, that sounds like something I might be interested in later. At the moment I'm too busy with other things, though. :)
