Honestly, no thanks. I hate Facebook and I don't want another system whose express goal is to make me find me a job. What's the fun in that? That's basically just like all the crappy parts in life (go to a crap school for 12 years, go to an overbearing college for 4 years, stress about a job, get one, and work until you die), except now it contains my entire social life.
I'm not into games just to find a job, and I'm not into life just to find a job in "the industry", either.
I'll pass, seriously.
As for the Volition article, why might it weigh heavily on us? For all we know he's splitting off and is going to try and make a spiritual successor to the Freespace series. That sounds like a good idea to me. In fact I might just e-mail him and suggest it and ask if he wants any help.
That's why I don't need a giant omni-website to help me get a job, because I'm perfectly capable of coming up with good ideas, just like everyone I know. Also, because everyone else I know is capable of coming up with good ideas, then why should I not also believe they're perfectly capable of following through with them on their own, or at least be willing to hop on board with someone else and try some ideas together?
EDIT: All that being said, I'm looking through the forum right now to give you folks a chance. It really is the name and that bit about tying together some of my online gaming life into my real world 9-5 "job life".
